I went to speak to my eleven year old niece's class on Friday. I spoke to the morning class, which she isn't in and then the afternoon class which she does attend. I wasn't sure how it would work out since she'd told me the night before to be prepared to talk for 45 minutes, since no one would most likely ask me any questions.
I am happy to say she was wrong. In both classes I was kept busy until the bell sounded answering questions. I answered questions about how long it took me to write my first book, how do I come up with names for characters and book titles? Do I ever have dreams that turn into books...they were all fantastic questions.
Of course my niece didn't ask me anything. She did tell me that I was a pretty good speaker...not boring at all.
I enjoyed speaking to them.
