Help

I'm attending Archon this year. Archon is a science fiction/fantasy convention in St. Louis, MO. I will be on a number of panels and it looks like I will be doing a two-hour workshop on co-writing.

My question to you is what would you like to know if you were going to write a book with a partner?

  1. Back in the day I used to do workshops with other faculty from different Universities. We needed to coordinate long distance because when we got to the conference we rarely had time to say hello, let alone work on our presentation. We found that the easiest thing to do was come up with an outline and then pick our favorite topic from that list. We would alternate our presentations. So, if I were working with one other person I might have topics 1,3,and 5 and he had 2,4, and 6. Worked wll for years until the one year that the other presenter didn't attend and didn't send me his information!

  2. I guess my biggest questions would be logistical...who writes what? Do you divide advances/profits 50-50? What if there is a falling out--what happens to the project? How do you go about finding a co-author if you think you need one?
